It's Festival Season!
The Louisiana Crawfish Festival located in Chalmette Louisiana proudly announces the dates of Thursday March 26 through Sunday March 29th, 2015. The festival, known as "The Grand-Daddy", kicks off the season for the Metropolitan Area! Since 1975 the festival has featured "The Crawfish"! This year is looking like a stellar year for the sought after mudbugs. The rain and warm temperatures, according to industry spokespersons, have the crustaceans in abundance.
Every which way you like 'em! Besides the highly sought after boiled bugs, the festival features many dishes highlighting the scrumptious head and tail delicacies. All the carnival delights are available such as funnel cakes, cotton candy, burgers, dogs and candied apples washed down with refreshing bottled water, chilled soda or the famous brewskie! Yep, over 30 Food Booths!
Great Music with a Twist! The entertainment and showmanship will be unbelievable. Local musicians love playing the fest and included are: Thur 6-10 p.m. Weathered, Fri 6-8pm 90 Degrees West , Fri 8:30-11:30pm Chee Weez, Sat. 12:00-3:00 pm August Rush, Sat 4:00-7:30pm VooDoo Gumbo, Sat 8:30-11:30pm Bag of Donuts, Sun 12:00-2:30 pm Waylon Thibodeaux, Sun 3:00-6:00pm The Boogie Men, Sun 7:00-9:00 pm Groovy 7! Wow, what a line-up!
Mitchell Bros. Amusements "short or tall, big or small, we ride em'all"! Once again, the ride giant is promising thrilling rides for Toddlers through the Maw & Paw relaxing ferris wheel. The wild rides are in abundance and awaiting to be conquered by adventurous patrons. The sirens, flickering lights and racketing tracks are ready to roll with numerous rides to choose from. Pay one price tickets will be sold for the entire event, daily on the grounds.
Anglers Attention! The REDFISH TOURNAMENT RETURNS! The 2015 Yellowfin Elite Series Classic will "weigh in" on the festival grounds Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. with an unbelievable Grand Prize. It is a fully loaded 2015 21 Foot Yellowfin boat sitting on an Amera Trail custom tandem trailer and powered by an awesome Mercury 250 Pro XS Outboard valued at $75,000!! WOW!
Arts and Crafts will be in abundance and will surely grab your attention.
Again, this year THURSDAY will be DA PARISH NIGHT!
There will be a blood drive on Saturday and Sunday in front of the Fred Sigur Cultural Center.
